Peperomia Prostata
The Peperomia Prostata is a common crawling/pendant succulent that will steal your heart. Its leaves resemble the shell of an aquatic turtle, reminding us of relaxing and paradisiacal environments. . It will get angry if you don't place it in a practically tropical climate with annual temperatures between 18 and 25 ºC.
🪴📏 Description
Our Little Turtles come in a 14cm diameter pot and are 25-35cm long. Each plant is different, the photo on the card is an example of the one you will receive.
☀️🌤️ Lighting
In late summer/early fall, make sure it gets full sun as this will help it produce the stunning blooms.
🌡 🌡 Temperature
Between 15 and 25 degrees. It does not tolerate cold or frost, so try not to subject it to temperatures below 15 degrees. They also don't like drafts too much.
💧💦 Watering
Normally the peperomia genus only has one problem: irrigation. We must be observant enough not to flood our peperomia, nor to let the substrate dry completely. Be careful not to leave water on the leaves at nightfall, or we will have rot, loss of leaves and the plant. If we grow it as a succulent, echeveria type, enough light without too much intensity, and moderate watering, our peperomia will live with us for many years.
🏝️💨 Humidity
It is one of the main requirements if you want to get hydrated, green leaves without burned edges or with a decayed appearance. Locate your turtle heart in the the most humid area of the house. For example, a bathroom with access to natural light, or in the kitchen. If you live in a dry climate, it will appreciate a spray or humidifier.
💩🪴 Fertilizer
It usually inhabits humid environments with a good presence of organic matter, detritus and decomposing organic matter. Therefore, it is somewhat demanding on fertile soils, so we will look for a mixture of peat and coconut fiber.
